Tailfeather Native
Sóllilja was born and raised in the settlement of Tailfeather, nestled within the Dravanian Forelands. It was here that she developed her love and admiration of Chocobos, and learned the beginnings of her tradecraft as a skilled trainer.A skill that was further refined into mastery when she moved to Ishgard as an adult, becoming one of the head trainers of Ishgard's war birds. She has also, on occasion, been known to lend her husbandry knowledge to the Gold Saucer; helping them with ground work for the more unruly racing Chocobos, as well as helping on-staff vets with extreme cases of illness or injury.
Painter at Heart Protector by Choice
Sóllilja first picked up a blade as a humble Warrior. Although she never quite understood (nor supported) the Ishgardian war against the dragons, she felt compelled to protect those she cared about - mostly from the stray Ice Sprite or Wolf . . . or maybe a particularly ambitious Karakul. It was here, in the barracks of Camp Dragonhead that she met (and subsequently fell in love with) Haurchefaunt. Theirs was a whirlwind romance doomed to tragedy. After the loss of her beloved at the hands of the Holy See, her resolve in Ishgard (and herself) wavered.Something in that festering darkness spoke to her, resonating with her, and began to take on a shape of its own. She nurtured it, spurned and outraged as she was, disenchanted with her accomplishments and all of the titles they brought. And so, when next she took up a blade . . . she did so as a Dark Knight.
Jill Of All Trades
Following the demise of the Holy See, and the crumbling of his corrupt foundations, Sóllilja found herself aimless:She is still loyal to her commanding officer, Aymeric, and believes that he is the true and proper leader that Ishgard needs (although, maybe not the one it deserves.)She is still motivated by the desire to protect those she cares about - and she does still care deeply for many still living within the city . . . but she no longer feels wholly devoted to Ishgard or her Knighthood. So what is she to do now?Lately, she has begun taking up freelance work of a variable sort: information broker, bodyguard, commission painter . . . and the list is growing still. It seems so long as you have a need, Sóllilja will do her best to see it fulfilled. Or at least find someone else who can.
Sin-Touched
As the remnants of the distant Ala-Mhigan conflict came to a tenuous close, and Ishgard worked to rebuild itself, Sóllilja began experiencing bouts of migraines, with the occasional lapse in consciousness. After one such lapse, she awoke . . . not in the comforting cold of Ishgard. No, this was some strange and new place, bathed in a perpetual daylight. She was in Norvradnt. Absconded alongside the other Archons, due to her proximity to the Warrior Of Light. She passed the years in the only way she knew how: helping others. But her time in the First was not without consequence; her exposure to the constant light and the Sin Eaters it birthed changed her. When at last she awoke back in the Source, she found that her skin had taken on a pallor like that of fresh marble, her veins now a faint silver that only added to the resemblance. Her eyes, as well - once a pale blue, now flecked with hues of silver.
A Tenuous Future . . .
Sóllilja is infected, unbeknownst to even herself. It presents itself in little ways: lapsing waves of apathy, the occasional depressive mood, and a slow-growing insatiable hunger. A hunger for friendship; for attention; for glory; for perfection. This illness - terminal as it is - has yet to be discovered. It may take decades to change her fully. It may even take centuries. But when it does, the outcome remains certain: she will need to be dealt with, and swiftly. For a Sin Eater alone is bad enough . . . but a Sin Eater with an Aetheric connection to a lost Garlean construct -
